UMW is the group of women in each congregation that is organized for mission.  UMW is the successor organization to the home and foreign missionary societies, ladies' aid groups and guilds of the seven predecessor denominations of the United Methodist Church.  UMW members are involved in everything from their local food pantry, to seeking just policies from state and local governments, to mobilizing millions of dollars every year to support programs that help women, children and youth around the world.  Their prayers for the work of mission, guided by the Prayer Calendar and their own studies, are critically important to this work.
